श्री शिव आधारभूत विद्यालय
Shree Shiva Basic School is located in Shivalaya, Ward No. 1 of Gokulganga Rural Municipality, Ramechhap District, formerly Chuchure VDC, Ward No. 7. The school was established on Chaitra 1, 2049 B.S. (March 1993 A.D.) and currently provides education from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Grade 8.
In the early days, students had to travel to schools in other villages to pursue their education. Recognizing this difficulty, local social workers and community members, including Late Dil Bahadur Gubhaju, Mr. Dhruva Kumar Basnet, Late Bir Bahadur Karki, and Mr. Buddhiman Karki, actively coordinated with concerned stakeholders to establish a school in the community. Initially, a three-room school building was constructed, and classes from Grade 1 to Grade 3 were started. Mr. Dhruva Kumar Basnet, one of the founding members and a former Chairperson of the School Management Committee (SMC), played a significant role in this initiative.
The school was named after Lord Shiva, whose temple is located in Ward No. 1 of Chuchure, now Shivalaya. Consequently, the institution came to be known as Shree Shiva Basic School.
In 2050 B.S. (1993/1994 A.D.), during the tenure of the then SMC Chairperson, Mr. Dillising Tamang, and the Headteacher, Mr. Ramesh Kumar Karki, the school received financial assistance amounting to NPR 106,000 from Dr. Muller, a Swiss national. This support enabled the construction of an additional two-room building.
Later, during the period of 2056/2057 B.S. (1999/2000 A.D.), under the leadership of SMC Chairperson Mr. Bhim Kumar Shrestha and Headteacher Mr. Bhoj Bahadur Khadka, consultations were held with concerned stakeholders regarding the earlier three-room building, which had not been constructed to the required structural standards. With the inspection and financial support facilitated by German sponsor Mr. Lalit Bahadur Shrestha, a four-room stone building with a corrugated metal roof was constructed. Thirty percent of the construction cost was contributed through community labour.
Over the years, the school has continued to serve the educational needs of the local community and remains committed to providing accessible and quality education to children in the region.
